Renata Mendes

International speaker, internal and external dialogue facilitator, and conflict mediator. He has been working professionally since 2002 with peace culture in several countries such as Brazil, India, Kenya, and the United States. B.A. in Business Administration from PUC-SP, post-graduate degree in Yoga from FMU and in Social Innovation Management from Amani Institute and UPEACE, and certified by the Non Violent Communication Community. She is currently a Master’s student in Art of Peace, Development, Security and Conflict Transformation International at the UNESCO chair University of Innsbruck.

Founder of Actveda, a business with social impact that makes self-knowledge accessible to everyone to build peace. It develops lectures, courses, and programs related to the themes of culture of peace, conflict mediation, leadership, and self-knowledge. She won the “Woman of the decade in community leadership and social change” award at the Woman Economic Forum, Delhi in 2017. Since 2003 she leads the Aparigraha Project, which offers Yoga as a tool of transformation for girls in detention at the CASA Foundation, as well as techniques of self management of emotions and values.

In 2016 she founded the Aflora World Institute, a non-profit social organization generating opportunities for the effective reintegration of young women in conflict with the law, in which she has already impacted over 5,000 girls.

The knowledge I have acquired along my path has allowed me to dive deeply into self-knowledge and coexistence relationships. My work within the juvenile justice system and in conflict mediation, along with practices of self-knowledge, allowed me to understand that even in complex situations, with a lot of tension and disagreement, it is possible to establish dialogues and agreements where diversity is welcomed and respected.

As such, I create safe spaces to talk about sensitive issues with an approach that invokes our humanity and greater connection. By working with different publics, from girls in situations of high vulnerability and risk to company presidents, I have acquired the ability to translate the same concept and needs into a language of simple understanding. Every successful dialogue leads to action and change, so I also help facilitate the development and execution of plans in a more creative and assertive way.
